The modern rules of soccer are founded on the various forms of football played in England as early as the eighth century, and organized formally by the English in the nineteenth century. The Laws of the Game for soccer were first developed in England by the Football Association in 1863. Over the years, the game of soccer evolved so that today it is governed internationally by the International Federation of Association Football.The premiere event for soccer in the world is the FIFA World Cup, which is held once every four years.One of the reasons soccer is so popular is that it really only takes a ball and a flat open area to play. Kids throughout the world will set up fields and goals just about anywhere and start playing the game. The game is also fun and competitive. Soccer is a great form of exercise as there is lots of running for good distances. The sport is also a good test of dexterity and a great way to learn balance.
